Interfacial Polymerization at the Alkane/Ionic Liquid Interface

چکیده

Polymerization at the liquid–liquid interface has attracted much attention for synthesizing ultrathin polymer films molecular sieving. However, it remains a major challenge to conduct this process outside alkane–water since not only suffers water-caused side reactions but also is limited water-soluble monomers. Here, we report interfacial polymerization alkane/ionic liquid (IP@AILI) where ionic acts as universal solvent diversified amines synthesize task-specific polyamide nanofilms. We propose that IP@AILI occurs when acyl chloride diffuses from alkane into instead of being triggered by diffusion in conventional system, which demonstrated thermodynamic partitioning and kinetic monitoring. The prepared nanofilms with precisely adjustable pore sizes display unprecedented permeability selectivity various separation processes.

Scaled interfacial activity of proteins at the liquid-vapor interface.

A principal conclusion drawn from observations of time- and concentration-dependent liquid-vapor (LV) interfacial tension gamma(lv) of a diverse selection of proteins ranging from albumin to ubiquitin spanning nearly three decades in molecular weight (MW) is that concentration scaling substantially alters perception of protein interfacial activity as measured by reduction in gamma(lv). Proteins...

The Role of Interfacial Molecular Structure in the Adsorption of Ions at the Liquid-Liquid Interface

One of the most common and important interfaces is the boundary layer between an aqueous phase solution of ions and a hydrophobic medium. Whether the hydrophobic medium is a membrane, a macromolecular assembly, or a simple organic liquid, our molecular-level understanding of how ions in an adjacent aqueous phase approach, alter, and transport across the boundary is still quite deficient, largel...

Two-dimensional polymerization and reaction at the solid/liquid interface: scanning tunneling microscopy study.

The two-dimensional polymerization and reaction at the solid/liquid interface has caused considerable attention in recent years because of its fundamental importance and many potential applications. Scanning tunneling microscopy (STM) provides the possibility for the observation and manipulation of polymerization and reaction occurring at the solid/liquid interface at the atomic level. Two-dime...

Wave Reflection and Refraction at the Interface of Triclinic and Liquid Medium

A Mathematical model has been considered to study the reflection and refraction phenomenon of plane wave at the interface of an isotropic liquid medium and a triclinic (anisotropic) half-space. The incident plane qP wave generates three types of reflected waves namely quasi-P (qP), quasi-SV (qSV) and quasi-SH (qSH) waves in the tric...
